Taguchi wins Asia Pacific in Hokkaido

Team MRF driver Katsu Taguchi has won Rally Hokkaido, Round 2 of the 2010 Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

Taguchi’s win is his second of the season, after winning Malaysian Rally in April and takes the Team MRF Tyres Mitsubishi driver to a commanding lead in the APRC driver’s title.

A disappointed third was Indian Gaurav Gill in the second Team MRF car. The Indian driver was the overnight leader, but this morning hit a snow marker damaging the rear suspension. In the next stage the suspension broke loose and he had to drive the next stage before getting to service for the necessary repairs to be done. After dropping to third he cruised to the finish to collect valued point.

After getting held up being Gill with damaged suspension Taguchi however battled with Cusco driver Hiroshi Yanagisawa as they fought for leg points. Taguchi finally taking the lead on the penultimate stage and winning the day by 0.6 seconds.
